Medical Staff Services Department

Management responsibilities of the graduate medical education department, health science library, hospitalist group, and the medical staff services department, as well as the following specific functions:

• Medical staff bylaws
• Medical staff rules and regulations
• Medical staff funds

Responsible for coordinating the following meetings: Medical Executive Committee; Medicine Committee; Endovascular Committee; Anesthesia Section; Family Medicine Section; Internal Medicine Peer Review Committee; Otolaryngology Section; Ophthalmology Section; Pharmacy, Therapeutics & Diet Committee; Plastic Surgery Section and Urology Section.

Responsible for coordinating the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation Program (OPPE) for medical staff and allied health professionals. Responsible for credentialing the initial Allied Health Professional applications and expirables. Coordinates the following meetings: GME Committee.

Responsible for coordinating the medical staff continuing Medical Education Programs. Maricela also coordinates the following meetings: CME Committee and the Departmental CME programs.

Administrative Assistant to the President of the Medical Staff and the Director of Medical Staff/Healthcare Services. Responsible for the ED Call panels, and faculty stipends.

Responsible for coordinating the Credentialing process for medical staff reappointments. Coordinates the Credentials Committee.

Responsible for coordinating the following meetings: Surgery Committee, Obstetrics & Gynecology Committee, Ob/Gyn Peer Review Committee; Trauma Services Committee; General Surgery Section; Critical Care Section; Cancer Committee; Gastroenterology Section; Hematology/Oncology Section; Neurology Section; Neurosurgery Section and Orthopedic Section.
