Center for Trauma Care

Trauma remains the leading cause of death and disability worldwide.  Recent studies have shown that chances of survival are improved when care of a traumatically injured patient takes place at a dedicated trauma center committed to providing a specialized trauma team 24 hours/day.

First established in 1983, Huntington Memorial Hospital is the only trauma center serving the San Gabriel Valley.  Designated as a Level II Trauma Center, Huntington Hospital provides trauma care 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.  Not only is our trauma team comprised of highly-trained surgeons and nurses, our facility has state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies to enhance results when time is of the essence.

Over one thousand patients are treated each year for traumatic injuries at Huntington Hospital.  Common injuries treated include stabbings, gunshot wounds, motorcycle or bicycle crashes, car accidents, falls and many more.  The trauma team at Huntington Hospital is dedicated to provide a complete range of services to all of our patients.  Our team of healthcare professionals is here to help our patients and their families navigate the path from point of injury to recovery.  From the moment a trauma patient arrives in our emergency department until they are discharged home, the staff at Huntington Hospital is committed to providing quality patient care through the entire length of stay.

Many patients seen in our trauma center have preventable injuries.  We have several services that provide information on injury prevention.  Please contact our Injury prevention coordinator or the Senior Care Network for information on programs and services.
