Patient Safety Materials

Patient Safety is of paramount concern at Huntington Hospital and we have implemented a number of strategies to achieve continuous improvement in this area. Our Quality Management department has formed a Patient Safety Committee that specifically combats safety challenges by developing better, safer ways to do things and educating our staff about these improved methods hospital-wide. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has established nine patient safety goals and every employee at Huntington is involved in meeting these goals. Employees are encouraged and supported to report problems and be involved in solutions. New methods for better patient identifiers, preventing the spread of illness and infection or medication errors, and improving communication among caregivers are just some of the topics tackled daily at Huntington. Although healthcare processes have become enormously complex as medicine advances, Huntington is committed to putting patient safety above all else.
