Jeannie Shen, MD, Appointed Medical Director of Breast Surgery
The Huntington Hospital Cancer Center announced that Dr. Jeannie Shen, MD, has been named medical director of breast surgery. Shen, a Pasadena resident, came to Huntington as a staff surgeon in 2005. Fellowship-trained in breast surgical oncology at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Shen brings an expert level to the quality of care in Huntington's breast cancer program.
"I look forward to working with the multidisciplinary team of breast specialists at Huntington who provide such great care to the women of Pasadena," said Shen. "The program is evolving rapidly and I am honored to be given a leadership role at a hospital so committed to offering high quality care using the latest technological advances with emphasis on compassion, empathy and the personal touch."
Shen was recently asked to speak at the American Society of Breast Diseases annual symposium on April 3, in Chicago. Her clinical research interests include identification of high risk breast cancer patients, biologic and behavioral differences in breast cancer among Asian populations, sexual quality of life issues after breast cancer diagnosis and the role of acupuncture and other complementary therapies in helping patients cope with the side effects of breast cancer treatment.
