Are there exceptions to the July start dates?
Our program start date for PGY1 interns is June 25th, orientation starts one week prior to that date.
Are there minimum score requirements for Step I or Step II?
There are no minimum score requirements, however, our program is very competitive and higher scores will give you a better chance of getting an invitation to interview.
Can I apply if I fail more than once on Step I or Step II?
You can apply, however, because our program is small and the competition is great, we would view your application after considering applicants who passed on their fist attempt.
Do I need a PTAL (postgraduate training authorization letter) from the medical board?
You will need a PTAL letter before February.
Do I need to be ECFMG certified before applying or for granting an interview?
It will be helpful to be ECFMG certified before the interview but definitely before February.
Do you currently accept US citizens who went to medical schools outside of the US?
We accept applications from US citizens who went to foreign medical school.
Does Step II need to be completed before I apply to the program?
Only if your medical school requires you to pass Step II to graduate, but it is an advantage.
Does your program support H-1 or J-1 Visas?
We have sponsored H-1 Visa’s in the past, but J-1’s must be sponsored by ECFMG
How many letters of recommendation do I need?
You need a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation.
How many spots do you have available for PGY1?
We have 2 categorical positions and 3 preliminary positions, (designated preliminary positions preferred).
Is research a plus?
Yes
Is Spanish fluency a plus?
Yes
Is the USMLE cutoff different for international students?
No
Is there a requirement on how many years since graduation from medical school?
We prefer that you have graduated within the past 2 years.
Is US experience a requirement?
No, but preferred
