Huntington Hospital Breast Cancer Program

The Huntington Hospital Breast Cancer Program was founded in 1998 when several doctors from surgical oncology, pathology, medical oncology, radiation oncology and breast radiology came together to establish a comprehensive program with the latest advances in diagnostic imaging, breast surgery, medical oncology, radiation therapy and breast cancer support services.

For our patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer, the Huntington Hospital Breast Cancer team offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team of medical experts, all highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.  Surgeons and radiation oncologists provide local treatment (i.e.: surgery and radiation therapy), while medical oncologists give drug therapies to destroy cancer cells that may have spread beyond the breast.

Our mission statement:
“To deliver state-of-the-art breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatments in a compassionate and caring environment, close to home.”

State-of –the-art means that we will consistently strive to offer the most up-to-date surgical, medical, and radiological expertise and technology to patients, including clinical trials.

A compassionate and caring environment means that the entire care team, including radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators, symptom management nurses, oncology research specialists, radiation therapists, an oncology certified dietitian and an oncology certified social worker, will strive to take care of all the physical and psychological needs of our patients, as well as their family and loved ones. Breast cancer care is very much a team effort.

Our registered nurse navigators work directly with patients following them from the time of initial diagnoses through their treatment and follow-up care. As navigators, their goal is to streamline care by ensuring timely access to treatment and follow-up.

The goal is to care for more than just the disease; our philosophy is to focus on the individual needs of patients and their families and loved ones through every step of the breast cancer journey, from diagnosis to survivorship.
