Our Programs
Community Outreach Health Counseling Services Our registered nurses provide health counseling and screening at a variety of community sites.
Pediatric Obesity Prevention (H.E.L.P.) This program is for families with children ages 5 and older who are at the 85th percentile BMI (Body Mass Index) for age or higher, meaning the children are at-risk of being overweight or are already overweight. the 5-session workshop includes topics on basic nutrition, making healthier food choices, smart shopping, reading food labels, fast-food and dining out, and physical activity. We also provide a follow-up 6th session along with ongoing phone support and support groups.
Chronic Disease Prevention (H.E.L.P.) This program is for adults who are at-risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes and/or heart disease. The 5-session workshop includes topics on making healthier food choices, breakfast and a healthy pantry, food label reading, heart health, and exercise. We also provide a follow-up session and ongoing support groups.
Type II Diabetes Education (H.E.L.P.) Huntington Hospital's Healthy Eating Lifestyle Program: Diabetes gives you the information you need to prevent diabetes if is part of your family history, or if you are at risk for diabetes. This program will also give you the information you need to control your blood sugar to reduce or prevent complications of diabetes if you already have it.
Asthma Education and Management (P.C.A.P.) The Pasadena Community Asthma Program is designed as an overview of asthma, triggers and asthma medication. Additionally, we offer a clinic for medically underserved asthma patients.
